CreditExpert - why???

I took out the 30-day free trial with experian and cancelled it last week, a week before the trial was due to end. I got an email confirming that my membership had been cancelled so WHY have they taken a debit card payment of £49.99 today????? Have sent them an email requesting the reasons for this but would like to know if anyone else has had the same probs... I don't understand it as even if my cancellation hadn't gone through then surely they should have only taken £5.99 for the next month? GRRR just when you think you're going to get to the end of the month without touching your overdraft!

OMG maybe this is some sort of fraud, or mistake, surely 49.99 cant be right??
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind

credit expert are a complete nightmare. i was charged £5.99 ( not sure why you were charged that much  ) it took me a month to get my money back with an e mail and phone calls every other day. i got the money back in the end but the hassle was not worth it. There was a thread on here last week ( cant remember what it was called ) but this has happened to a lot of people - they have all got their money back so hopefully you should be alright. Good luck.

Luckily, I cancelled mine after 10 days. This was after reading about problems that other people have had. Keep phoning them.

That's completely the wrong amount to take even if you had kept it!

It's £5.99 a month to stay with credit monitoring or £4.99 per request for credit score.

I really would phone them today as a matter of urgency to get this moving and get your money back asap.

    Good luck!

Thanks for your responses everyone... I will ring them today and get chasing them! And I'll have a look out for the other thread regarding them... might be worth something being put in Martin's article to warn people about this? It must be happening to lots of people without them knowing (if they're not as obsessive about checking their online banking as I am lol!)...

well, I had an email from Experian this morning saying they are refunding the £49.99 today - so we'll see! I will be religiously checking my bank account over the next couple of days!

I had to phone them to cancel and did so pretty sharpish after reading this thread! The customer service bod said "you're well within trial so you won't pay anything". Still, I'm keeping a beady eye out none the less.
