  • my ex oh had psoriasis but only in his hair. it started when he was doing exams for uni. i think it can possibly be stress related. after 6 months i made him go to our gp and then he got special shampoo and it sorted it - sorry cannot remember the name of the stuff. once it was gone he used special shampoo once a week for a year and it only came up in tiny patches.
it's nice to be important but more important to be nice!! :kisses3:

I buy the huge hairdressing size bottles of shampoo so it wouldn't be that as it has all been out of the same bottle, if you see what I mean.

I'm going to go to the pharmacy tomorrow and give the Nizoral a go to try and nip it in the bud so that it doesn't spread. I don't mind using a different shampoo every now and again to keep it under control if thats what it takes, I guess the Vosene isn't an antifungal like the Tgel isn't. (Fungus on my head EWWWWWWW:mad::mad::mad:)

How would I have got it do you know?? Is it just a predisposed weakness, thats all it really says on the websites. Seems odd that I've never had it before but I guess you have to start somewhere...

    Thanks for all the replies

Check with other family members, theres bound to be some who suffer - boys more then women. My nephew has it - and he had terrible cradle cap as a babe. My neice doesnt have it and my sister just got it in her 40's whereas I have had it since my teens

ketoconazole shampoo (2%) is the only treatment that's readily available. If you get free prescriptions then ask your Gp as it really is quite expensive. As I said previously there is a cream available on prescription for other areas but if you keep the scalp free then you should be ok ( I get patches under my boobs. around my ears and around my temples)

There are people who swear by cider vinegar and others say coconut oil. Im going to be starting taking coconut oil soon so I shall monitor mine see if there is any improvement as Im having more flare ups as I get older

There have been other people on here with similar sounding problems ,i know someone who suffered really bad and COCOIS worked for them. There are some on ebay (dont know if theyre a good price though)might be worth a go if nothing else works :D

It was me that asked you about this last time squidge (thanks btw!!) I asked my doc to provide some on prescription which she did, unfortunately, I didnt take into consideration that it is a cream and I have quite long, thick hair, thus not very much of it actually touched my scalp!! i managed to use up most of the tube try to apply it! You were also right in that it REALLY stinks!!! - the girls at work thought they were tarring the road outside when i walked into work one morning after having this on my head the night before (and I'd washed my hair that morning!)

I am back to using Betacap lotion again at the moment - but it's not the best, it really stings and doesn't clear it up much any more, but it does lessen the itching slightly.

Anyway, sorry for the waffling - I hope you manage to find something to suit you OP.

    Hi everyone,

thanks again for all the advice. I bought some Nizoral at the weekend - went to the chemist and bought a bottle for about 8 quid then went to tescos and saw it for £6! Never mind I'll know where to go next time!

It has worked amazingly well though, almost gone and thats after only using it twice - I'm gonna keep going with it as it's made such a difference.

Thanks very much for pointing me in the right direction!
