Advice with One Account Charges Please

I have totally messed up this week as I have had too much going on with one thing and another and got my mortgage payment date mixed up. We have a One Account and the mortgage was due out on Tuesday, I was thinking it was next Tuesday. We didn't have any 'spare' money in this account and I used my switch card over the weekend. Today I have logged into my account and have had the mortgage payment come out, 7 debit card payments and have been charged £203 in bank charges. I accept it is my fault and have made an expensive mistake but are banks allowed to take money out of your bank like this without writing to you first? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Your bank would have notified you of the terms and conditions of operating the account when you opened it, and sent you updates of changes.

Always pays to read the boring smallprint.
