Then I can relax and get on with my day and not give it any more thought.
I am determined not to become complacent, as I know that this is how many people drink again after a long period of abstinence. They 'forget' about the problems they had, they forget that alcohol makes them miserable and negative. That's the alchemy of the drug - it tells you that just this time things will be different. And then a while later they are back where they started, and have to struggle all over again.
Am I really free? No, as I am and will always be alcoholic.
However, I don't drink, I don't have cravings, and I am very happy with my life. So I can handle not being entirely 'free' - alcohol at least has no bearing on what I do and don't do as a whole
Ah right, so it's more of a positive affirmation or statement of intent kind of thing.
Folks at work went on a bender on Friday night and I'm in that half feeling left out, half feeling relieved I wasn't part of it stage. More on the relieved side I think - no embarrassment, no regret, no horrific hangover and thinking 's**t! did I really go to the cash point and withdraw/spend all that money on booze!!'
Hugs Fedupski, nothing to say that will help but I wish I could wave a magic wand and take the pain away.
TTGU - count me in the for 72 hr challenge!
Jo - love the jokes.
