Rooftop Mortgage Offer

Hi,received an offer from our current lender Rooftop by letter yesterday. If we remortgage with another lender before 31st Dec 2009 we will receive a discount of £6800(10%) plus have no repayment charges or exit administration fees to pay? This offer seems too good to be true?
We have already been approved for a remortgage with Abbey and intended to give Rooftop notice as required next week. Has anyone ever heard of this kind of offer being made before? I know that the company have stopped taking on new borrowers but can they really being offering us money to leave? If its true then its like a lottery win for us but Im dubious, any advise would be appreciated.

Get on the phone to them and ask is this true and can you have this offer confirmed in writing!
I know you have a letter from them but you could do with a current balance and details of the £6800 discount and proof that you wont have to pay ERC or exit fees.
Some lenders are trying to reduce there mortgage accounts ( DEBTS!) and need cash so if you can remortgage to another lender ( hopefully at a better rate ) then well done and good luck0 -
Yes it's all legit, has been discussed on the forum before.0

Contact them and tell them you will accept double that - if you are moving your mortgage anyway best to squeeze the most you can out of the deal.0 -

You are one of the lucky ones. A lot of folks can't escape.0
