Charterhouse: Propert management fee.

Hi,
In the housing estate I live every household need to pay £100.00/year to charterhouse as estate management fee. There are around 200 houses in the estate (all freehold) and the fee is used for the maintenance of common area. The internal roads are used for public transport (ulster bus service) as well.
My question is why is this applicable only to new estates. In old estates the council maintains the common area. Anyone got any link to the law regarding this ?

Thanks
Maveli

  • Not 100% sure but probably a condition put on the planning application to cut costs to the local authorities £100 x 200 = £20,000 less of a bill that the local council has to pick up!!
