Hiya everyone
I just wondred if anybody had used the eco washing balls they are £15 for two with 3 refill bags and do around 600 washes no need for detergent, But do they work i dont want to fork out £15 to find that they are no good
Any advise would be great as they also allow you to wash at 30 degrees saving water, power and money.
cheers everyone

I used them for quite a while; they were fine on 'ordinary' clothes, but to be honest they don't sort out visible stains at all. I went back to detergent. The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0

Washing balls?
I dangle mine over the sink & slap some Dove liquid soap on them, just be sure pad them dry with a clean towel well afterwards or you could get a nasty fungal infection.0 -
They don't work. It's a nice idea, but a complete waste of money.0

I find mine is ok for washes that don't have stains, heavily soiled clothes etc. They freshen your towels, sheets, etc up fine though.0

I used to use Ecover washing powder......dood stuff
However i came across these wash ball...(although a different make to the one ones your on about) at the CAT center in wales.....£35 pounds however you have them on a 30 day trial and get your cash back if not satisfied.....
they worked fine and the great thing is you can use them on a lower temp and you dont need the rinse cycle so good if your on a water meter as i am....
if you have stained clothing you will need to use a stain remover such as Ecover as i do....
The balls gave 1000 washes.......so given i get 30 washes from an ecover box at £3.80 per box....then i recoup my cash after 270 washes....then i am in profit and i still have 720 washes to go which works out at about £90 odd profit not taking into account saving on water and electric from using lower temp and no rinse cycle....i also do not drive so i never need to carry heavy boxes of washing powder home.
Now its not perfect and you need to get used to your machine and how much washing you put in...also if you have kids that may be more difficult but my washing looks good so its worth a go....
So why do they not work for some.......not sure people either love them or hate them but i can only speak from experiance and i say buy them...0 -

My opinion is that they don't work at all (and if you google you will find some scientific evidence on this).
Basically they rely on water alone to wash the washing.
Some people THINK this means the ball is doing the washing, it is however only water.
Yes you are saving money and not carrying powder, but the same would be true if you did wash with water.
People have different tolerances so some people are satisfied with it and some are not.
I have now gone back to using liquid but use less than I did before.0 -
