this may not be o/s, but i need help with wedding outfit

Hi, hope you may be able to help me. I have two weddings to go to, one is 20th May and the other is 1st july.

its a different group of friends so hoping i can wear the same outfit

i brought awhile ago a brown 3 tier "net" skirt from matalan £12.00 it's plain brown but looks like a pinky brown if you know what i mean. I have worn it to a wedding before so was thinking of customising it by adding pink sequins to it to make it scattered with them (a la monsoon style-y)

i need to wear a pink top with it to the 1st july wedding (pink and brown theme) , has anyone seen any nice cheap pink tops that i could add some brown sequins or beads on to?

what colour could i wear with the skirt to the May one or has any one got any ideas on cheap but nice alternatives? All my friends wear really expensive clothing!!!

    hi

a few years ago my sister and i bought very expensive tops from a shop in london - basically they were t-shirts that had been customised and I was mad with myself afterwards when i realised i could have made it for much less!

M&S are doing a good range of decent quality t-shirts for less than £10. Why not customise one - use lengths of ribbon sewn on - or attached to the sleeves. Round necks can be cut to make v-necks, sleeves can be shortened. even a length of pink sequins round the neckline and arms would look pretty. John Lewis has a decent haberdashery department but are pricey - if you have time look fro fabric on ebay and in charity shops.

Best of luck - you must post a pic of whatever you make.

Brown and gold look classy together, and gold is in at the moment.

Cream top with gold scarf? Do you have access to Primark?

I'd definitely go with Ebay for ribbons etc. I was really pleased with the haberdashery I bought for my outfit for my daughter's wedding a fortnight ago (brown, coffee, gold, cream theme). You might find a gold or cream flower to sew on.

I think dressing for a wedding without spending a fortune is clever and rewarding, if you can get into the right mood. If it's not too upsetting, look in Monsoon and Per Una and pinch ideas.

    Good luck!

Yes let your creative juices flow, at least you won't be upstaged by someone wearing the same outfit at the weddings. Custom made clothes look expensive too without the heavy spending

Many designers started out that way...

Just about any colour will go with brown and pinks - just pick your favorite and wear it! You can tone them with similar colours or wear shocking contrasts such as magenta and blue.

Most chain stores, discount stores or even markets will have t-shirts in now and pink is a very summery colour, so shouldnt be too hard to find.

Good luck and look forward to seeing your design.

That's an absolutely brilliant idea...thank you.
  • I'd recommend eBay both for clothes and for beads and stuff to decorate them. I don't know what size you are or anything, but since I don't mind an excuse to lok at pretty clothes on eBay, here are item numbers of a few: 6876312088 (size 12), 9315506402 (size 14), 6877541680 (size 12) 9316146916 (size 14)... actually I might bid on that one myself! Anyway, there are plenty to choose from, some new, some used, so you could probably find something you like, but it might not arrive in time for the earlier wedding.
My aunt had a lovely pink beaded top at my cousin's wedding - I think it was from Kays catalogue, but I've no idea of the price.
