I did it no problems! Bought a DENIM NEEDLE from the sewing shops and it was fine.

Take photos on your phone as you take it apart so you can remember how to put it back together again!

  • Crikey; glad I didn't see this before I made a pair of denim jeans at school, including inserting a zip :D I didn't know it was difficult

nor me - I used a leather needle - but my machine couldnt cope and it was nightmare!
  • I broke a zip in me leathers. Instead of trying to get it replaced, I made eyelet holes down each side of the flies, and got the cobbler to bang metal eyelets in, then laced the flies up with leather thonging criss-cross style and it looked ok. Well a bit fiddly when you need the loo, but a good cheap fix.
    Howwwwwww Much???? ;)
  • You haven't said what is wrong with the zip, but some things can be fixed and it doesn't need to be replaced.

When the zip on my favourite trousers broke (the slider wasn't knitting the teeth together) I googled for info on how to replace the zip and found out how to repair it instead!

I did a search for "replacing a zip in trousers" (uk sites) and the top result was a video from metacafe.com.
