in Cutting tax
I'm attacking the CGT pages on my tax return for the first time, recording mainly losses, all from share trading, from three separate tax years.
I've used the worksheets provided, and right at the end given the net loss figure I want to carry forward for the future.
But I just wanted to check: throughout the process it only really talked about the 08/09 tax year and not the ones before. In particular, it thinks some very small gains I actually made in 07/08 were made in 08/09.
It doesn't seem to make much difference, and, like I say, I've given the net loss figure to carry forward. Does this sound right? Is it just a software thing?
Thanks.

I'm not completely sure about the software but I think you only put current year losses and gains on the tax return. Any from prior years should have already been filled in on those forms.0

Thanks. Hmm. I know you have something like 5 years and 10 months to tell them about a loss, and all the online help stuff seems to suggest you can 'catch up' on your tax return.
But maybe you have to write in separately about previous tax years. Think I'll give them a call.0
