hi all i have been looking at my credit file recently and have noticed an entry from natwest, this made me remember something?!
when i was 16 i went on holiday with my sister and used my solo card in gran Canaries, i did not have any money in my account but the bank gave me the money anyway when i got back the debt had spiralled from me taking out £40 over there to owing them nearly £300, long story short i paid back the money, but there is another debt alongside it for £1200 for the same time period for natwest but i have no idea what that is for it says a loan but surely i am not able to get a loan or overdraft facilities at 16?
i do remember paying that too and being young and daft never questioned it, now older and wiser, i want my money back, question is do you think i would have any grounds to?
p.s i am nearly 27 so it was 10 years ago

i was asking if they were legally able to give a loan to a sixteen year old regardless of income etc.0

There is no law preventing the giving of a loan. The bank effectively did that when you 'over' used your solo. However, the bank would not legally be able to force you to repay it. (so had you known that when you were 16, you would probably have got away with it). Based on the fact that the Bank wouldn't be able to force you to repay any loan, it is HIGHLY unlikely that they gave you a formal loan. You don't sound as though you know whether you got the money or not - why don't you ask them to check their records and let you have copies of the documents. I'm pretty sure they're obliged to keep it for 12 years.0
