So.
The BOE reduces the rate for O/N Deposits from 1/2 % to say 1/4 %, or even b*gger all, it'll have a huge effect on fixed Mortgage Rates for 2 ,3 and 5 Years ???
What a stupid article.
Typical This is Money drivel, rehashing an old story.
oh, you have to go and spoil it don't you !!Please take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk

because they need to get their money from somewhere
in (loose) theory though, nothing will change.....
they will still be making 10 basis points on anything they stash at the 'big bank'Please take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk

everyone, considering that rates are so much higher than the base rates and that they're not lending as much as seems to be necessary for some people, although i would also state that rates are not 'high' as such0

well i agree that mortgage rates are too high, in comparison to the base rate, but i don't see how a cut in the interbank deposit rate at BOE will lead to even higher mortgage rates

12/18mths ago banks didn't get anything from the BOE, because the facility wasn't there... that didn't effect the mortgage rates
this BOE interbank deposit facility has no bearing on how a bank sets its mortgage ratesPlease take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk

There is seems to be a lot of assumption that lending will go to the mortgage market, I think this is only one area.
Business lending is a big target as well.:wall:
