band hire in the east midlands?

HI all bride to be's
I'm getting married on July 23rd 2010. We want to have a live band at our reception rather than a d.j.We found one band locally but they charge £600,this includes a d.j while the band takes a break. Does anyone know any bands who do modern music? How much has you all paid for entertainment? As we don't know if this is expensive or not?

£600 for a band including a DJ to play during their break is great value. I have tribute bands and acts on my books that charge between £500-£2000 and they dont include a DJ, then I have cover bands whose prices range from £450 to £2000. DJs cost between £150-£400 so I say that you have a bargain and the band will need a break in the middle of their set and you need something as a stopgap so the DJ is ideal.

    Hello,

Agree with all above, we're in Lincoln, and have booked a band for £400 (Although not modern, as our weddings 1950's style), they are doing two 45min slots, separate disco for £250 for about 6 hours. Had a few other quotes for around £700. :)
