MBNA Arrgh

Sorry just had to vent my frustration somewhere. I have been trying to set up my DMP for the last 4 months and most of the creditors have been quite good and accepted payment plans with the exception of good old MBNA which despite me writing numerous letters have only had the "please phone us in return" They have even phoned me at work ( which I stopped) . I currently owe them just over £10K which in the last 4 months has ballooned to £11.7K with fees and interest. I have offered and have been paying £50 per month. I even wrote to them last week with a new offer of £90 per month. Still no response just letters saying call us.
However today I inadvertantly answered my mobile and it was MBNA . Anyway to cut a long story short they have calculated that I can afford to pay £345.00 ( which by the way was £60 more than my original minimum payment) and they will now had it over to their legal team to recover if I dont agree.
I was told that if I needed to renegotiate with my other creditors to accomodate this then this is what I must do:mad:. I was very polite but got nowhere. In the end had to end the conversation by saying if they wish to default me then please go ahead as if I could not afford to pay the original minimum how on earth was I going to afford the higher payment????
Just when I thought the light at the end of the tunnel was getting a little brighter._pale_. That conversation has completley messed up the rest of my day!!.
How have other people found MBNA?

In a word they are baskets. Write a letter informing them that you want all correspondence in writing only, don't sign the letter, just type your name and send by recorded delivery.
Block MBNA on your mobile.
You cannot give what you haven't got, have you contacted one of the debt charities for advice?
Do not agree to anything you cannot afford to do.
Others will be along soon with much more useful advice, its quite slow on here today but someone will answer you shortly.0 -

Thank you. I have contacted payplan but in the end have tried to set the dmp up myself as I only intended to remain on the DMP for no more than a year as I earn a good salary and would give me the breathing space to try and take control of my debts.
I will be writing to them today0 -
Do you want to post an SOA (incomings and outgoings) and we will see if we can help you reduce your outgoings inorder for you to pay your debts off quicker.
The peeps on this board are a very knowledgeable lot and it just may help.0 -
I did all the same things as you, even when I was out of work for 2 months and they would not accept anything I offered. Eventually I got a county court judgement without realising and they have now put an interim charging order on my house. I went to court last month and defended myself and the Magistrate adjourned it for 6 weeks, however he told me the main thing to do was ensure that I get the interest frozen and agree a minimum payment. I go back on the 6th and they will most certainly get the charge granted.
I did say to the magistrate that this was always their ultimate aim to get an unsercured debt, secured!! My other creditors have been really good and agreed a payment plan with me too, so this is MBNA's way, unfortunately.0 -
I have a credit card with MBNA and Virgin (same company total debt was £11,000 now £8700). I set up a pay plan with then last September after months of them trying to get more out of me i offered MBNA £40 and Virgin £50, which they accepted. I made sure I spoke to the same girl all the time and would hold for ages until i got through to her, she was really helpfull and got the agreement set up until the card is clear with the interest frozen-(i'll be paying it back for ever). I also make over payments when i can afford it.
Don't give in and call them - it saves the worrying about then calling you. I also wrote quite a letters everytime i spoke to MBNA i'd confirm what had been discussed to them in a letter xx0
