Hi Ladies,

I just wanted to post a quick thread about my wedding. I've been on this board for the last year and you have been so very helpful in so many things from choosing our readings to deciding on Chinese Wish Lanterns (which by the way were a complete H7S nightmare, but the guests found it very amusing :o)

So I just really wanted to say a big thank you, and I'm going to miss you guys - especially the August 09'ers!!! My top tips for all you brides to be are:

1. If you can, book more than 2 days off work before the wedding. I had the Thursday and Friday off which I thought would be enough time - but I didn't stop on those 2 days, and wished I had booked at least 3 days off

2. Have a friend or 2 with you the night before. My 2 friends that stayed over were a complete Godsend. They helped with all the little things like tidying up, airing my dress etc etc, so that I didn't have to stress about those.

3. If you have a camcorder - allocate a friend to use that informally during the day. I did this and have some wonderful footage that I could take on honeymoon to relive the day until the official DVD came in

4. If you're umming and ahhing about a DVD - get it!!! I always wanted one, but DH was adamant it was a waste of money. Anyway, we hardly noticed the guy on the day, and we both love the DVD that came last week. Even DH admits it was a good idea as we can watch whenever we want

5. My bouquet was gorgeous! I wanted to throw the bouquet, but I didn't want to ruin mine, and I wanted to keep it. So we made up a fake bouquet from the flowers and trimmings that were left over and wrapped with ribbon. This allowed me to throw it, not care if it got all battered (which it did after the scuffle for it lol), all the while keeping my gorgeous one.

6. Take some time out on the day. From the moment we walked out of the church it was manic. On the way to the venue, our driver detoured and took us to the pub. Whilst I didn't get out of the car (DH brought drinks to me), it was a good way to celebrate our marriage just the 2 of us! This was the only time of the day we had to ourselves.

7. If you having the photographer come to your house first- then make sure you have your timings spot on. I ended up having photos taken in my dressing gown as I was running late to get dressed. Huge shame as MIL had spent weeks preparing my garden for nice pre-wedding shots!

8. Most of all ENJOY THE DAY!!!!!!!! Don't stress about little things - I know everyone says it - but it really doesn't matter on the day. Your friends and family are there because they love you - not to comment on what colour the tablecloths are!

I wish you all fabulous weeding days and all the best wishes for the future. Enjoy the planning, as you will feel a void in your life afterwards!

Sammy x

Not at all hon. Actually, we made those flowers the night before. Fortunately, my friend is a florist so she put everything together. I was more the gofer - cutting flowers, sweeping up debris, making tea lol. The glass beads and diamantes were from Hobbycraft, and the ribbon as well. Let me see if I can find a piccie of the top table flowers as well. Actually, I have some other photos of the flowers as well.
  • CONGRATULATIONS Sammy, and thanks for sharing your photo's, everything from the venue to your dress was lovely, and thank you for the tips ; ) x
