Should I wear black shirt trousers grey waistcoat, or a suit, or a white shirt and tie, or something else? Would a waistcoat be overdoing it?

Don't wear a black shirt. You're not a gangster.
Don't wear a waist coat. You're not a clown.
What would you be expected to wear for the job? You should aim to go pretty close to thise. If you're unsure, go with dark trousers, white shirt and a sensible tie (no, you can't wear the Mickey Mouse one). Black shoes.0 -
Normal Suit, normal shirt (can't go wrong with blue or white) an inofensive tie (tied without an enormous estate agent knot!) and black shoes.
Keep it simple. The last thing you should be worrying about in an interview is whether what you are wearing is appropriate
