student tax allowances

in Cutting tax
I am a postgraduate student receiving a tax-free bursary.
I also receive money from savings interest, just below the tax threshold.
I think this year I will be very, very close to my £6 475...
So, my question is, if I find I am just over, are there any allowances I could claim to bring me back under? (Its not so much wanting to avoid paying a small amount of tax, but not wanting the hassle of paying tax on all my income from savings, and then claiming nearly all of it back.)
Could I claim my professional subs which I have kept up? - I suppose not, if I am not working at the moment - but I will need them when I finish!
Or how about any of the costs of being a student, books etc, or travel? But I suppose thats what my tax-free bursary is for, so I think its a non-starter. Logic says its only the cost of getting the income you can offset - how about all my calls to those expensive call centres the banks have?
Any ideas gratefully received.

just wait intil the year end
if you find that you owe a little tax just write to the HMRC and give the figures.... they will ask for the tax back... in due course.....0 -
