Do you think BOGOF will be banned in the UK in future?
While I can understand that people could abuse alcohol and possibly waste food, I can't see what would be so damaging if you get free sofar for example.

Money is not the root of all evil.
It depends on how you obtain it and how you use it.
Have you sold your soul to the devil?

TBH I'd far rather have the choice of buying one at 50% off if that was all I needed. Of course the supermarkets want turnover so it's better for them to offer BOGOFS. People on lower budgets will be the ones that lose out because they may not be able to afford the full amount. Single people, pensioners...all these folk would benefit if the offer was for 50% off instead, and these of us who wanted two of the items anyway wouldn't lose out.Val.0

I don't think it'll be banned, supermarkets are greedy and want to tempt us in and we want bargains so we'll go in for them. We're all getting more aware about not wasting food in these hard times so if people are daft to buy BOGOF's in food and then (continually) waste it more fool them...
Happy moneysaving all.0 -
The problem is that its the suppliers who have to pay for the BOGOFS not the supermarkets, who don't lose out at all. I was astounded when I read "Shopped" by Joanna (?) Blythman as I never realised just how devious the supermarkets are !
of course as a customer I am not complaining about the BOGOFS.....
But I do appreciate the fact now that the Supermarkets do not fund these offers out of the goodness of their hearts !0 -
No, but the acronym should be banned. There are idiots who make silly comments to suggest that 'BOGOF' can be pronounced the same as 'BOG OFF'. I wish such morons would go away.
Almost as stupid and irritating as the Glaswegian band 'Glasvegas'. Since when is 'Glasgow' pronounced "'Gloss-' or 'Gloz-' go"?:mad::mad:0 -
I think bogof offers should go. I bet alot of people who get these offers(myself included) don't always get round to using them especially for the likes of bread and fresh produce. I think it creates waste which we should be minimising nowadays. If we were offered the items at half price then it would be up to ourselves whether to buy two of them or not.0

i think u should be able to buy one for half the price..iyswim...also though it depends what it is...if it was say prawns the 'free' one could go off before u can use it...if it was biscuits the chances are they would be eaten well within the date..possibly as soon as they came in the door...i dont seem to get many b1g1f as they dont do it on value stuffonwards and upwards0

Huh, it's not and neither is Las Vegas - it's pronounced LAS Vegas not Los or Loz Vegas?0 -

Id be gutted if BOGOF's were banned. i buy alot of things that are on the offer, and i always freeze the free one if its fresh produce. Bread can be frozen as can fruit and veg.0
