Alternative to Virgin Vie one step face base??

Can anyone help me please. I have used Virgin Vie one step face base for quite a long while now, alternating between ivory and soft beige or both mixed together. My problem thou is I am fed up of looking like a ghost when i have any flash photography taken of me, whilst wearing the make up. I believe its reflectors in the make up which do this???

So ladies can anyone suggest an alternative please....

Also as i have used a powder foundation for so long, I've kinda lost touch with whats on the market and how to use it. Should i be using conceller under liquid foundation?? and if i use liquid foundation , do I use a powder to finish it off?? And what is mineral powder??

So many questions, sorry, but i feel like I've lost the plot and am alittle out of my depth:confused:

Thank you xxx

  • you could try and get a free makeup consultation at some of the 'big' makeup counters, just to get an idea. eg clinique, lancome estee lauder, etc they sometimes can give you a free skin and make up consultation - but make sure to find out first that you are not obliged to buy anything, just yet. once you have an idea of things and types available - you could then just shop around to find your best alternative given your options and budget.

personally, i use the clinique superfit foundations (when i go out in evening and have 2 colours for seasons)- its a liquid foundation which i prefer as it gives a light smooth finish, doesn't feel heavy and lasts all day. over that i finish off with superdouble face powder to set the foundation- which is a compact that can be used alone without foundation (which is usually use everyday). i prefer to use a concealer before the foundation or compact powder so that it doesn't look obvious if used the other way round.

i think powder foundations are for oilier skins whereas liquids are good for dryer skin - but it maybe personal preference ie application, convenience. the mineral makeup haven't appealed to me yet - but i've heard they are good as they don't clog pores and you can build up the intensity of makeup slowly.

  • Not really sure on my skin type. Def not all over oily, maybe occasionally around my nose I might be, so would say i'm combination. Maybe going for the liquid seems the better option.
