  • Thank you for the positive comments keeping me going does anyone know why applications go to underwriter hsbc rep said if it was just up top hsbc then it wouldn't be a problem but becasue it involves other parties they may be reluctant to offer to take on unsecured debt - don't fully understand why some applications are referred

For periods in the early-mid nineties my employer would not, under any circumstances, lend to consolidate other debts.

Times have changed, but there is most likely a policy that all lending for consolidation is properly underwritten.

All mortgage applications go to underwriters, as they are the ones that sign off the mortgage.

Just keep off the coffee until you have had that phone call :D

  • It's now day 4 and still no news from hsbc re application for extension to existing morgage. I have been reading articles on interent re likely offer and it seems from some press reports earlier in the year that underwriters will be looking at any excuse to decline. Can anyone tell me will the fact I am overdrawn be a negative as part of what we want to borrow is to clear this. The bank account is with hsbc too does the fact we have been customers for over 20 years with morrgage and accounts count for anything these days
