picallili question

After all the talk of picallili I'm making some today. (veg salting as we speak).
Question is, if the jars have plastic liners in the lids can I get away without waxed disks or are they still at risk of rusting? (I think I may have disks somewhere but like to use proper lids if possible...)

  • I'm pretty sure you can dispense with the discs if your lids are plastic lined;)

Why not just put some cling film over the jar before you screw the lids on? Cheap, simple & foolproof

  • Well I've made 4 jars of special recipy (low residue) home grown veg picallili, I've put waxed disks on the jars that fitted and none on the ones that didn't so we should find out one way or another
