How do you wear a dress and keep your dignity?

I have only wore a dress during the day (2 little ones to run after, school run and in and out the car often - therefore bending over lots whilst putting toddler in car seat....etc) 3 times the whole summer. Not a breeze in sight until I put my tot in the car, suddenly a gust of wind comes from nowhere and whoosh, the neighbours get a right eyefull!

Autumn/winter will be easier with the confidence of leggings underneath. But I see so many woman looking fab in floaty dresses and they never walk along holding the hem like I do. So why dont their dresses blow up? Whats the secret??

Longer skirts and heavier materiial.

Lined skirts will always be better than ceap unlined ones, skirt length is a definite help too but why not just wear a slip/underskirt to "preserve your modesty"?
or get a few "hem weights" and add them to the dress to ensure it's slightly heavier

thats a fab tip, thank you, although for whatever reason i don't find that i have that problem - i do wear footless tights or leggings almost all yr round under my skirts or dresses tho..

The maxi dresses I wear in this country are of heavy quality cotton and the amount of fabric in them stops them revealing all.
With shorter dresses I tend to layer them with cropped leggings or jeans so I don't show too much if there's a sudden gust of wind!

Thanks for the tips, Im guessing leggings are the only safe bet. I love maxi dresses and never have the problem with them. I did have knickers on though stupidly it was a thong. Next time I wore a dress I had shorty type knickers on lol.
