New DMP with CCCS

Hi, I am fairly new to DMP and I do not know how to post a new thread???
Anyway, I sent off my DMP to CCCS yesterday and I am scared about the outcome. I have 4 creditors (Citicard, MBNA, Halifax, Northern Rock) and just wondering if any of you have anything to put my mind at rest and tell me if they accept a DMP with CCCS or not?
Thanks and sorry if I have not posted correctly!!

Hi. Firstly it appears you have started a new thread - so don't worry about that. I don't have any experience of your creditors and whether they will accept your DMP or not - I suspect they will eventually - in the end nearly all do - it might take several months and you might have to get CCS to keep reminding them that what they are getting is what they are getting but they should do in the end - after a while they realise that you are serious about sorting this and should settle down.
Anyway hope someone with more direct experience can help you.
Good Luck - you're on the right road now.

Hello and welcome!
Out of your 4 creditors, I only have experience with Citicards. Although they have not accepted my DMP, they have, after several months, changed my monthly statements to the effect that 'you are in a temporary arrangement' and have stopped adding interest, so that is quite a positive result. Hopefully you'll have a similar experience...
That said, I think that most creditors take DMPs on a case by case basis, but the bottom line is that you are doing a DMP and they will have to accept it! You are going through a recognised free charity organisation who draw up a fair budget and then fairly distribute payments to creditors, so there's not much more to be said is there?! Just remind yourself why you're on your DMP (in most cases, it's because there's no other choice!). Creditors can squeal all they like but you can only pay them what you have!
Good luck - you have posted correctly - and feel free to ask as many questions as you like - there'll always be someone around on this site to hopefully put your mind at rest!

Thank you so much for your kind words and I feel quite touched that people on this forum really do care about you and are not quick to judge you. Also a big thumbs up to CCCS where would we be without their guidance.
I suppose we all make mistakes and sometimes bad things happen and there is not much you can do about it - so onwards and upwards and I will get there eventually!0 -

Hello and wellcome
I am new here too :j
Me and my partner have been in a DMP with CCCS for nearly 3 years now and have made great progress in paying off our debts. I will honestly say the first year or so was very very testing, in terms of creditors accepting or taking us to court etc etc
Don't be alarmed as that may not happen to you. Northern Rock were not very nice to us and took us to court for a straight charge on the property. They failed so we only pay as directed by the CCJ, MBNA have been a pain in the butt and i would say once they passed the debt on i was relieved. MBNA are a company you need to stand your ground with (that is my experience)
Halifax have pestered my partner and sent letters assuming they were from a debt collectors but they were actually in house still. :rotfl:
It takes time and patience and some creditors will be good and others not so. Just stand your ground and swott up on your rights.

Hi sudi - if you get creditors calling you asking for more money (which often happens at the start of a DMP) just quote your CCCS reference number and tell them you can't afford more than your DMP offer and that all matters are being dealt with by CCCS.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0

Just to echo what Tixy said in relation to Citicards. I did get a number of phone calls from them at the start, but just said firmly (as Tixy says) that they should speak to CCCS, and here's my reference number. After about 2 months the calls stopped which I take as a sort of unspoken acceptance.

Hello
I've only had experience with MBNA out of your creditors. They accepted my DMP with the CCCS straightaway and I'm in my second 12-month period of them accepting my reduced payments. They also stopped interest and fees.
Expect the first couple of months or so to be a bit grim with creditors chasing by phone and/or letters. Refuse to go through the security questions if they call and tell them to put anything in writing - if they persist in calling, there's a letter you can send to stop them. (You'll find some good letter templates on this thread that may prove useful!)
Most letters you receive will be automated ones. With some of my more persistent creditors, I sent my own standard letter in response to every single one of theirs, reminding them of my DMP.
Good luck with the DMP. For me, it's proved to be the best thing I could've done.Debt Jan 2008: £45,566. *** June 2013: DEBT FREE! ***
Paid back just under £50,000 due to some interest added.

I am also on a DMP with CCCS (month 3 of 63!), but found that MBNA accepted it with good grace, reduced interest to 2% and stopped charges. They were pretty fierce in the beginning, but calmed down and confirmed the reduced payments in writing to me.
Good Luck with the DMPAiming to be debt-free, and have my degree, by 50 ! :j0 -
Wow thanks everyone I feel like a great big weight has been lifted and the biggest relief is that if I get a bad day I can always come on here for some great support. Honestly you do not know how much you have all helped me today! I am going now as I can feel the blubbering coming on. Speak to you all very soon xxx0

Of the 4, MBNA were brilliant with me, accepted my dmp immediately, gave me no hassle and still don't and 18 months on, have still accepted my dmp and kept interest frozen. They even removed the default that they had issued me with - I didn't ask them!! And they are my largest creditor - owed them 9.5k - now owe them about 7.5k.
Halifax on the other hand were hell. One of my smallest creditors and refused to accept my dmp and lumped on interest and charges and constantly hassled until I complained. Thankfully, after about 10 months, eventually sold my debt on and I'm finally making headway into that with no hassle or problems.
Good luck with it - you need to ride the storm for a few months and it will settle.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free
