Just returned from a court hearing regarding my CCJ redetermination and was amazed that after all the huffing and puffing NatWest have been doing about the debt they didn't bother to send anyone to represent them at the hearing
I was there all of 5 minutes, the judge said she was confused as to why the original hearing had set a monthly payment of £95 when I clearly couldn't afford it, agreed my offer of £1 p/m and I was out of there.
It was a bit of an anticlimax to be honest, I had geared myself up for a grilling only for it to be a minor event.
Can I expect any further action?
Thanks again to those of you who put me straight and helped me out, this had bought me some valuable to time to find alternative accommodation before applying for BR.

Can't say I am surprised. I'm sure Natwest knew that if the judge was reasonable that they would be wasting time/money to attend.
The court staff who set payment rates at Northampton bulk centre don't seem to have a clue what reasonable payments are.
But once it goes to a local judge/court then more often than not they will be reasonable and realistic given your circumstances. Hence the importance of getting the redetermination in in good time.
Not much further action they can take as long as you keep paying the ordered amount.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I think this is an example of 'pin the tail on the donkey' regarding setting figures for payment.....Natwest likley set that figure to see what happened...if unchallenged, they say ''whoohoo''...but they will have come to expect something like the current outcome, to happen eventually.
They want the debtor to pay as much as possible.......and those fighting the debtor's side want to see nothing but reasonable payments...so it's all a bit like a Morrocan bazaar, really...a load of haggling.
I was amazed really, at how low CC's and their debt collecting stooges were prepared to go to secure some sort of settlement.....[I don't believe they intended the offers to be binding throughout time, either]No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -

            That's great news WATM
I have to agree though Alastair, we owed £193 to HBOS for a credit card and despite seeing there was no way we could pay it, Northampton still ordered that we pay £50 a month towards the debt. We too got a redertimination where we now pay £2 per month to them.:j BSC Supporter 290 :jDreading but looking forward to BR date- 27/10/09 @ 9:30am****No. 1 October 2009 Club*****Previously known as *br* on MSE**0 -
The reason I was amazed they didn't show was because of the size of the debt, from memory I owe them £22k and was fully expecting them to turn up guns blazing.
I think the judge said they may well apply for a forthwith order, as they probably wont be happy with a quid a month, and chase a charging order, but hopefully by that time I should have the BR ball rolling so I'm not worried.0
