M6 toll road

Got lost and ended up on M6 Toll Road with no money. Got issued a ticket which I was told to pay. (Not told within how many days). Lost ticket - now got letter saying I own toll charge and admin fee of £10. Was told this was because I did not pay within two days - which I think is quite short time limit.
Happy to pay toll charge, but think admin fee is unfair. (Just for sending a letter). Any advice? Ot do I just pay up and learn my lesson?

Put it down to experience. Your explanation is unlikely to go down well with the complaints board. e.g. You made a mistake getting on the road and missing all the signs that warn you (and there are quite a few). You had no money or credit cards to pay on the day. You lost the ticket and didnt pay within the timescale on the ticket.

I agree it was a load of errors on my behalf. What Im asking is can I reclaim the £10 admin fees? As with bank charges the amount they charge has been contested and some people have reclaimed that back. I think £10 for sending a letter is alot - can I reclaim?0

Its not a case of reclaiming. You have to put a case in for it to be waived. An appeals panel/person will look at your case to see if you have fair grounds for a refund or not.I think £10 for sending a letter is alot
Its not. Plus, its not just the letter you are paying for.- can I reclaim?
no. You can appeal but not reclaim.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. If it's going to cost you to go to appeal (travelling expenses, time off work etc), it's just not worth it for £10. I think you have little chance of having an appeal go in your favour. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
