Picked up two of these little cameras a couple of days ago from Dixons in Leicester.
Spec:
- 64Mb SDRAM on board
- Takes photo's up to 600x480 resolution
- Can use compression which stores more photos (26 at normal res, 52 using compression)
- USB cable supplied which also provides the ability to charge the lithium battery in under 3 hours
- Photo software supplied
In the Dixons sale it cost a few pence under £20. Its designed for e-mail type use for small pictures which don't take up too much bandwidth.
I bought two of these actually expecting them not to be too good. My kids are quite interested in taking photo's themselves but I'm reluctant to give them my £600 digi camera to use
I decided that £40 for two small cameras wasn't too bad.
Got them home and charged them and gave them to the kids the next day. They had a blast and the quality of the photo's is pretty good considering the price. There isn't a flash attached so its pretty choosy about what is does take a picture of but if you get enough light the pictures are usually fine. This is usually only a problem for indoor use. The best thing is that children take the funniest pictures (e.g. pictures of the light bulb, plain walls, clocks, etc).
Personally speaking this is one of the best purchases of recent times for me (excluding the uno:uno we got today!).
If you have small children who want to take their own pictures I suspect you could do alot worse.
