Meeting with Registrar on day

I'm getting silly things poping in to my head! We understand that you have to meet with the registrar about half an hour before the ceremony to go through things, this isn't a problem & we'll do the interview together but I was wondering if it has to be in the same building as the ceremony? We've booked log cabins for the weekend so we're staying on site, would the registrar come to the cabin?
It would be nicer as we're bound to bump into guests if we go into the main building & I'd kind of like to not see everyone before our entrance!!
I know we can ask them when we meet with them to look at the readings & music but that won't be til after Christmas.
Anyone got experience/thoughts on this?

  • Hi,
when we got married last year, i stayed in the hotel the night before the wedding, the registra came to see me on my own about 15/25 mins before the ceremony and spoke to my husband when he arrived.

you may have to check with the registra if they would come to you in your cabin,. my meeting was only 5 mins long asking who would yake the certificate ect .....

Mine was also only 5 mins long - they saw my husband when he arrived, mine was literally the 5 mins before I walked in, so all of the guests were seated inside so no one saw me.

All they wanted was to check some details, it was also the chance for her to tell us what would happen, to tell teh bridesmaids where to stand when they got to the top of the aisle etc. and for my dad and I to ask the things we suddendly realised we didn't know - like which side of him do I stand, and how are we supposed to link arms (all the silly little things).

So don't worry, and if you want to do it together beforehand, maybe they can do that too once all the guests are seated, as it really is quick...

    Good luck!
  • As I understand it my regisrtrar will see H2B before me. I will be at the hotel where we are getting married. There is a special room I have to go down to but it is right next to the front door!!!!! I am dreading somene seeing me before I make my entrance for the ceremony. The hotel assures me they will have all the guests up in the ceremony room, but what if someone is late?

I would ask them and see if they can come to the cabin for you, I think I am going to ask mine if they can come to my hotel room!

    hi,
our registra came to my hotel room, she spoke to my husband first then came up to see me,
  • I'm seeing ours at the registry office. We're not having any ushers so Groom and best man, his brother, will be there early enough to 'ush' so that won't be a problem. Then the registrar will meet me at the door as I come in with my brother. As I understand it is quite quick, just a few things about pointing out where people will stand and sit and checking the details on the certificate are correct, this should be slightly quicker for me as due to family circumstances I have refused to have my father's details on the in the register and on the certificate.
Personally I would prefer it this way as with my mum, friend (no bridesmaids either) hair, make up and photographer all coming round to my flat it will be quite hectic enough, and I like the idea of having someone meet me at the door.

Same here, H2B will see reg in the venue, then the reg is brought to my hotel room to do the bits needed!

  • ok thanks, it's funny sometimes the little things that go round in your head!! Am sure there must be bigger things than this I should be worrying about!!!
