PC Tools' Refund

Long story cut short: My computer became infected with a trojan a few days ago. I bought a download version of PC Tools' Spyware Doctor (SD) (not cheap) on the understanding that I had a 30 day money back guarantee. Tried SD, didn't work. Had to rid my PC of the malware by restoring from the master boot record - effectively a format of the C drive. Now I want my money back from PC Tools.

Looking at the PC Tools web site for SD it says: "If for any reason you are not happy with your purchase, simply contact our friendly consultants within 30 days, and we will happily refund 100% of the purchase price."

Trouble is I can't locate these 'friendly consultants' anywhere on their web site. I thought I'd ask through their community forum, but I've not been sent my activation email for many hours now. PC Tools' address in Reading is shown on the Contact Us page, but there's no phone number. Any suggestions as to how I can go about getting my money back before this 30 day period ends - I've got about 20 days left?

PS Just tried 118 500. PC Tools Limited in Reading ex-directory and not contactable by telephone. Also noticed they're charging a 22% VAT rate?

Okay scrap this - I'm now making progress with PC Tools now. This post can now be deleted.

Is the unusual vat rate because the product is notionally shipped from Ireland?

  • I got rid of my Trojan recently with Loaris Trojan remover. Nothing else worked. It did somehow manage to delete the DNS code, but wasn't a problem putting it back in.
Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p

There is nothing your PC could be infected with which couldn't be removed for free.

Use the techy forum, there is always another method to try before commiting money (by commiting money, I mean paying someone else to do it if it all gets too technical).

I used all the info on the techie board, as much as I could, but nothing worked, hence I borrowed Loaris from a friend of mine and deleted the program off when I had cleaned my pc with it.

The Trojan I had prevented me from downloading spy bot etc as well as windows updates. It was annoying more than anything as it was re directing all my web pages.
