A healthy weight..

I'm shockingly heavy too, although 5'8" and a size 14, which is OK for my age, height and build. I don't judge by stones and pounds any more. Plus there's the added confusion of fat and muscle weighing differently.
Snip
Fitting comfortably into my chosen dress size is more important to me than reaching a certain token weight, although getting just below a stone or half-stone marker can (for some reason) be psychologically useful in maintaining weight.
I also work by dress size. I'm 5 10 and I used to be 8st 4lb and unable to gain an ounce no matter what I ate! I could fit into a size 8 then. Now I weigh quite a lot more ( I blame having children) but as long as I fit into a size 10 or 12 at a push then I'm happy.0 -

Aaah, I'm 5'7 and a size 12 and was thinking 'woohoo, I'm skinny!' after reading B&T's comment. Now I've crashed back down to Earth and my regular, average size 12 figure! :rotfl:;)0 -

He's 6ft 3 and 19st 9 but is very big build - huge shoulders etc.
The BMI calcs we've looked at suggest he should be about 14/15 stone which IMHO would be too light for him.
I often wonder about this 'ideal body weight' and various calculations of BMI etc ?
According to calculations/charts and the likes of, almost all of the England Rugby team is clinicaly obese ! I'm sure most of the girls would love to have an 'obese' rugby plyer around !!0 -

Same here, GG. I was thinking that's not too bad..I'm 5'6, and a size 12.. I'm on a mission to lose another stone though, as the first few pounds are history already, as I'm not happy with the way I am, which is the most important factor.0 -
I'm really surprised that GG and Piratefairy aren't teeny skinny girls. I'm size 12 too (although only 5ft 2 1/2 inches) and let my size hold me back on being too adventurous with clothes. You both have great style and GG love your photos on your blog. It's really reassuring that normal sized people can be funky too!0

How does he look? How does he feel? Does he eat healthily? Does he exercise?
All these questions are far more imporatant than the BMI measurement or the number on the scales. Every human being is different and the BMI scale does not account for that.LBM 17th August 2009 Debt at LBM £18,612 Proud to be dealing with my debts.0 -

Thank you for the kind words, vicki
I have serious issues with my weight body size / shape..but I have recently made a conscious effort to try and work past that and not let it stop me being experimental with outfits and looks. I truly believe the most important thing is to be happy with who you are, and comfortable in your clothes as it shows in the way you wear things.0 -
So glad to see others who don't look their weight. Before I had to stop exercising I was heavy with 42 inch hips and 27 inch waist. My thighs were completely solid and you could just about pinch the skin near my navel. It was a nightmare buying clothes, and I knew my local tailor very well lol
When I did WW I went down 2 dress sizes, but lost something like 10 pounds.
I went for a check up and the nurse told me with a completely straight face I was obese. I laughed all the way home and then threw out my scales. I know when I feel could and I don't need anything to tell me otherwise.Getting there... A deal at a time. :T0 -
I don't go for the scales anymore either.
I've put on over a stone and am the heaviest I've ever been but the same size 10 I've always been.
I started doing some weight training as I found that my muscle tone was going a bit when I reached 50 and now I'm trim and firm but a lot heavier.
I don't get this BMI thing either as everbody's body is different regardless of weight.0 -

He doesn't carry weight anywhere but on his tum, which is very big with stretch marks etc.
He doesn't eat healthily at all, works permanent nights and will usually only eat one meal a day, drinks lots of beer - around 26 units a week.
No exercise - I try to get him to come running and swimming with me but he says running hurts and he's too embarrassed to go swimming.
Vowed to give up the drink but we'll see. I do worry about him as we've just life insurance and he had to go with a 'specialist' insurer because of his BMI.
Also his mate who is smaller than him has just been turned down for a job because of his weight.
