Two mobiles - Do staff notice?

I need to purchase two of the same mobile phone (Matching gifts), now I can only reserve one at a time but if I went into store with

a)2 different reservation numbers

b)Catalogue number with 2 as quantity (Assuming 2 available)

Will the till flash up anything? And if so, can staff give BOD?

Thanks :)

With 2 reservation numbers get 1 then do a bit of shopping and go back for the second later. Can't see a problem and might get served by a different person if you are worried about being recognised.

it depends on how awake the people who serve you are, as the only message the till will flag up are

    1. exempt from 16 day MBG
    2. linked sales (eg top up)
    3. mobile insurance

we had someone on tills put 2 mobiles through as one transaction on the weekend. i was picking the stock, and refused to pick them both ;)

if you get to collection having paid for the goods, we can still refuse to supply the goods and offer a refund on one or both items (this is what happened to my customer on the weekend). so it does all depend on whether you strike 'lucky' or not.

The staff must have been on the ball, 'Store policy' of one mobile per customer.

But luckily I managed to find another one of the same specification in the store 10 minutes away :)

Isn't it strange how stores vary! The first store just chucked my phone in a bag, the next made sure they broke the seal and inspected it all!

I bought 2 last weekend - reserved one and collected/paid at customer services - my DD waited in queue to collect while I popped to the tills to buy another.

Can't you just get a pal to buy one at the same time for you?

Daft store policy. I bought the 3rd from Amazon when I realised it was the same price from there and no going into town hassle (one for me, one for DD1 and one for DD2)

The only reason that the "one mobile per person" exists is that a lot of the cheap mobile phones are sold here then shipped to another country but never registered on a UK network (i think it's was about 90-95% of all multi-mobile phone sales were never UK registered). The UK network ends up making nothing out of selling the phone that they subsidied in the first place and Argos only get paid by the network when the phone is registered on their network. There was suggestion last year that all mobile would have to have been registered in the store (god that would have taken forever...) to cut out this practice but thankfully it never happened (yet).

It's another case of something being taken away because a small amount of people abuse it.
