Have you acknowledged these debts at all in the past six years. If no then they could be barred statute.0

Okay, sorry you have been poorly.
Any debt that you have not acknowledged in the past 6 years is 'statute barred'
so unless its a CCJ they cannot chase you for it or enforce it, so stop worrying about that. Other posters will be along to guide you to a link for letters to send back to these morons who are just trying it on.
Good luck and i hope you keep on improving.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Whay do you mean by not acknowledging, I have not been in touch or paid anything or arranged payments but my mother said that over the years there has been letters sent to the home chasing it up and phone calls asking for payment..what do i do though, do i phone them and say its been over 6 years or is there some form to fill in, I mean i am embarrassed i never paid them so it will affect my credit but in my new situation its just not possible..appreciate all your help on this matter0

Hi
If You have written to them, without writing "I do not acknowledge any debt to your company", that is acknowledgement. You phoning them is not acknowledgement nor is anything they wrote to you.
These debts fell off you credit record nearly a decade ago. Even if there is a CCJ, then the company have to go nbakc to court to get permission to chase you now and that is unlikely to be given.
You need to write the statute barred letter. That is all. You do not need to pay, and it cannot affect your credit record. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Thanks all and RAS i will send the letter, so does this automatically fall off my credit or do i need to contact someone..does any debt after 6 years just fall off automatically0
-
All debt fall off your credit record after 6 years, automatically (although it might be 6 years and 2 months before is fully disappears because credit agencies take a bit f time to sort things out.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

Yes, debts automatically fall off your credit record after 6 years, you don't need to do anything about that, but you do need to write to the people chasing you for debts.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0
