hi all,
im hoping some of you could advise me.
my hair is really depressing me. im in the process of growing out an inverted bob (posh spice style) its mid brown with 2 chunky flashes of blonde at either side.
i really want a new look thats not too hard to style each day. i was thinking of growing it but my hair is so fine it looks limp even with layers. was thinking of getting inverted bob cut again but im thinking been there done that. any ideas. also i wear glasses so want a style that will suit them also. (no thick fringes etc.)
also my hair is so greasy, ill wash it and 2 hours later its like a chip pan. ive tried tonnes of shampoo`s but nothing works, i rinse thoroughly, tried rinsing with cold water, tried jojoba and tea tree plus medicated shampoos
i washed it this morning after the school run and its now stuck to my head. i just feel like a tramp all the time:o

Hello,
I also have very fine limp hair that gets really greasy. I have found that only using a small amount of shampoo, then using a leave in foam condidtioner, which is applied to towel dried hair, helps.
It doesnt weight your hair down which is great!0 -
Firstly your haircut: I'd suggest cutting it short. A pixie cut looks great on fine hair as it is meant to lie close to your scalp. I have thick hair which resembles a toadstool if I cut it short. No amount of layering will work if your hair is too long to begin with as the length will not be able to support your style if your hair is fine. The added bonus of short hair is that you can cut down on the products you use on it.
Here are some pics:
Think Mia Farrow in Rosemary's Baby
(Your fringe doesn't need to be as blunt as this)

One other thing is: have you thought about having colour put into your hair? Highlights etc will make it look thicker and on a crop as above look fab.
Shampoo: Your shampoos sound as though they're too heavy for your hair. You need something mild and without lots of silicone and SLS in which can weigh hair down. I know someone who swears by this stuff:

Hi - please dont keep putting tea tree and medicated shampoo on your hair - The more you mess with the ph balance the more greasy it will become
In boots they do a product called "dry shampoo" it comes in a can. Spray it on your hair when it needs refreshing in between washes and then brush it out. I swear it works wonders! your hair isgreasy because its producing too much oil. Oil is increased when you massage your hair when you wash it, try to wash it every few days - it will be difficult at first but i promise it will make your hair so much better and it wont be as greasy as a result.
This is the dry shampoo:

As for a style - if you want to grow your hair stick with it! buy some grips etc for now and keep persisting. It took me a few months to grow my hair back when i had it cut really short and im glad i stuck with it now!
Hope that helps x0 -
Agreed: the one thing that's guaranteed to make your hair oily is to keep washing, washing, washing. It made my scalp produce more oil but my hair got horribly dry. I broke the cycle by leaving longer and longer between each wash. It was hell for a while but things got sorted eventually. Try a really mild shampoo and not massaging the scalp too much. If your hair's quite short you could probably get way with applying the shampoo and not massaging at all or even just rinsing your hair with tepid water with no shampoo. If you wash your hair every day it really can't get dirty enough to need shampoo each hair-wash.0

just wanted to share the exciting news that Batiste dry Shampoo now comes in "Couloured" versions for brown and black hair. Haven't tried it yet but been to Boots and have bought three cans! The problem with the other one was that it made dark hair seem grey and dusty; hopefully this one won't! i was starting to think that I'd have to fork out approx £25 for this (Bumble and Bumble)......Batiste is about £3....Hope this helps someone0

Seems everyone here has already said everything!
Agree- don't use harsh chemicals (including tea-tree and etc) in your hair as they do irritate your scalp so your scalp works over-time trying to produce oils to rectify the situation. Instead use a milder formula.
If your hair is coloured, use a colour protect shampoo or colour depositing one- if you want a revamp for your look, maybe try a new colour? If your hair is a classic cut, you can get away with going as bright as you want! If the cut is a little more complex, stick to highlights and more natural looking things or it just looks over done and you lose style points!
Maybe try the batise product everyone else has suggested too- I use the Bumble and Bumble product briggers mentioned and can vouch for its excellence- epseically if you have dyed red hair which grows at the rate of knots (BIG root problem!)0
