Help with a breadmaker please??

Hiya,
I have been given a MR breadmaker and have never used one before and would like a bit of help with the loaf size button please if anyone can help?
Basically there is a loaf size button which is either set to 1 1/2 lb or crusty. (It only does 1 lb or 1 1/2 lb). Also there is a button for the colour of the bread (light medium and dark).
In the instructions it says that you should use the 1 1/2 lb loaf setting for 1lb loaves on all the recipes which have ingredients for 1lb loaves.
Now I'm not sure if I'm being a bit thick here but if I can only select between 1 1/2 lb or crusty, does that mean that whatever size the loaf is I'm just selecting if I would like it to be crusty or not?
I thought I must be missing something as surely if that was the case it would say crusty or normal or something??
Any help would be appreciated! :T
