Can you dye washable vertical blinds

Son has had his room decorated and wants new blinds to match. Had local blind company in to quote and for 30 slats (would use existing rails) price is £180. Thought this rather expensive as it is only a half drop window. Sons current blinds are machine washable and was wondering if anyone thought I may be able to dye them? If so, what would you use and how effective do you think it would look?

What fabric are the blinds made from? Take a look at the dyes available, and see which fabrics they work on

Have you had a look on Ebay? There's loads of replacement slats on there from about £1 each.
