Scary letter from Arrow Global LLC / Fredrickson International Ltd

This morning I got a letter from Fredrickson International Limited, a debt collection services company (their website is fredpay.com) asking for about £100 for their client "Arrow Global LLC". I called up and was told by the initial lady that the client was in fact ORANGE but when later transferred the man asked me questions like my date of birth and full current address at which point I demanded to know what company this debt was originally from and he refused to tell me unless I answered security questions first. I didn't answer them and the call ended.

Please help - do I trust this company and give them my details? I have never had a contract with Orange so I should not have any kind of charge from them. Are these debt collection companies real and what is the best course of action that I should take?

    Hi ay

I think you have a couple of choices - if you don't think you owe money to orange or arrow or anyone then ignore the letter (my favourite option) or you could send a 'prove it' letter - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=11570893&postcount=2

It may well be that they are sending this letter out to lots of people with your name or a similar name to their actual debtor. If they really want you they will write again. My advice would be not to phone them again.

    - just a thought did you ever have a freeserve or wanadoo account as these became orange? but they are probably looking for someone else anyway.

  • Had a freeserve account years ago, pay as you go dialup :) but no not since then and that was literally a decade or more ago and it definitely was payg and no contract.

I will just ignore them, thanks for this advice
  • From my limited expeariance with them Fredrickson International Limited seem to be chaseing uncolectable/unenforceable debts, after a bit of research they seem to disapear if ignored, but i would keep an eye on your credit file for defaults, if that matters to you that is;)
Thats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all …………. :(
  • hmmmmmmmm - i think i would send a prove it letter myself as you know that you havent got any history with Orange xx
