Stamp Duty - Give with one hand, take with other

During discussions with Persimmon on Saturday we were told that due to the delay in our property being built we would now have to pay Stamp Duty, as it returns to its "normal" state on the 1st January. Slightly annoying but thankfully all budgetted for.
However, with a Government Scheme (HBD) still running until end of March 2010, the Stamp Duty threshold holiday does add a large bill to those moving house during what will ne the busiest time for this scheme, the last 3-4 months.
Does anyone think the Government will extend this holiday?
If not HBD people, get yourself prepared for a bill you probably wasn't expecting

Only "slightly annoying"!? I'd suggest that as the delay is their fault not yours you should be able to negotiate a reduction in purchase price to cover the difference - can't hurt to ask.0
