in Cutting tax
Does anybody have a list of what UK taxes are spent on? I tried google for a proper list of as much as possible but nothing comes up really just the usual "roads, nhs" etc etc. I was hoping for a proper ins and outs list.
Sorry if this is in the wrong area.

what sort of detail do you want
the government spends about 600,000,000,000 per annum
so if you want it to the nearest £1m say that would be a list of 600,000 items0 -
expenses with any left overs given to banks.0

Try contacting your local council for information

Well, we could start with the less obvious things:
£6.3 million of your tax money was spent by the Department for International Development (DFID) on projects such as a Brazilian dance band in Hackney.
A scheme to make Asian teenagers aware of how the "fashion industry hurts developing countries" was awarded £200,000 of tax payers money.
Have a look at all of your council leaflets and you'll notice they're translated into half a dozen different languages (not cheap at all).
Then of course there's the MP's expenses, not to mention all the money we give to the EU.
Finally, look at the amount we spend in foreign aid. Despite promising cut backs, the Tories have said they'll give more away in foreign aid if they come to power. Look how much aid we give to India in aid (billions), who have a multi-billion pound nuclear weapons program and a space program. Even we don't have a space program ourselves.
I know some of the above may only be a drop in the ocean, but the list of things like this goes on, and on, and on...
I'd go beyond the usual things pedalled about such as roads and the NHS, and look what the money is really spent on. Good luck!0 -
.....and don't forget the foreign aid we give to countries who develop nuclear weapons and run space programmes !0

Thanks thats generally the sort of thing I wanted to know about! I just hear all this stupid talk about how much debt the country is in and how it would cost x billion to get us out of debt and that people are going to have to lose their jobs etc, but surely if they scrapped all the crap ideas like Brazillian dance classes it would at least contribute to fixing things?! If people want to dance let them find a way to afford it themselves.0
