Wedding ring problem

I have been wearing my wedding ring less than 3 weeks and I have what appears to be a problem with it.

From the outside of my hand it appears lovely and shiny but if I turn my hand over it is really dull and so badly scratched it is unbelievable. I have NEVER had a ring that has scratched so badly, it looks like someone has tried to file it down its so bad. Its 9 carat gold (but that should make it harder than 18 or 22) and was bought from an independant jeweller in town. The 9 ct band I had with my ex and wore for 12 years never looked anything like this and the 22ct band that I wear on my other hand that was my grans which she wore for 73 years is not so worn.

I am totally confused as to what can have caused this (but just looking at my engagement ring it looks like it may be affected a little too but nowhere near as badly). Its not like I've been over zealous with the housework and I havent used anything stronger than Fairy liquid :rotfl:.

Has anything like this happened to anyone else?

  • Take it back to the jeweller and discuss it with them?

Are you wearing your engagement ring next to your wedding ring or just the wedding ring on its own?

Are they different materials? ie one platinum, one gold or one 9ct one 24ct foe example?
What matters most is how well you walk through the fire
