Viewfinder comp from Observer Escape section
This small market town was once the tenth biggest in England, and one of the richest, thanks to the wool trade. Its long history is reflected in impressive architecture, particularly its minster. It is also home to the oldest state school in Britain and has hosted horse raced on its "westward pasture" for more than 300 years. Name the town.
Answer - Beverley. (Definitely right this week, ladies and gents! There are cream telephone boxes and the Wiki page confirms all the details as above)
Email your answer by Wednesday to viewfinder@observer.co.uk or send a postcard with address and phone number, to Viewfinder, The Observer, Kings Place, 90 York Way, London, N1 9GU.
Good luck.
