claim mileage even if you dont have a car ?

do those who do mystery shopping and do you claim mileage as your expenses even though you dont have a car ??

for example i live in londoon and i bike everywhere - so i assume i can still claim the mileage rate even though i bike to the assignment and dont drive ?

    Assuming you are referring to the deduction in your accounts for travel costs, the fixed rate allowance is for the running of a motor vehicle and so does not aply to you. You can, however, include the costs of maintaining the cycle in your accounts, plus capital allowances in your self assessment.

    Whether Mystery Shopping or any other job, you claim either car mileage allowance or actual travelling costs by public transport. As Fengirl has pointed out to you, you are able to claim maintenance and capital depreciation of your bicycle. Remember to keep all recipts to support your calims.
