CSA Paying The Wrong Person

Hi all

I'm after a bit of advice about payments being made to the wrong person. In a nutshell, my ex works for a small company that has two employees making CSA payments (himself included). The payments all go on one cheque, and in June, the ex of the other person working at the company got both of the payments. I rang up and it all got sorted about a month later.

This has happened again for September's payment. Payments were a bit all over the place because of the earlier mistake, so when I rang up I wasn't quite sure where I stood. The woman I spoke to didn't seem to think anything was wrong at first, and I was thinking that maybe I'd made a mistake, but in the end she dug a little deeper and found that again both payments had gone to the other person's account.

The CSA are blaming the employer, and the employer are blaming the CSA. What really annoys me is that if I had thought I'd made a mistake, I'd had lost out on that money completely.

Has anyone else had this happen, and done anything to stop it happening again? Can I get a log of payments made, every so often, so I can check there are no missed weeks?
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

If the employer are stating clearly both account numbers then it would be the CSA's fault, but if not, then it is the employer's fault - can you find out?

My ex asked his employer, and the boss said that he writes both NI numbers on the cheque, and staples the cheque to both sets of allocation papers so can't see how it his fault. The CSA are stating that the employer isn't writing both NI numbers on the cheque, just only one of them. So I'm not sure who to believe tbh.

  • It isn't the NI numbers he needs to quote, but the REFERENCE numbers.
