Hi there just a quick question, my friend has changed his name by deed poll and has just registered on the electrol roll but what i want to know is he has not told them he now has a different name so how does it affect a credit file would a new file be created on that basis?

If he lets any existing creditor / financial company know his former name then a link would be created between the 2 names.
If he applies to see his credit file I think he will be asked to give any other name he has been known by.
Other than that I'm not sure if anything specific happens automatically to link his old name to his new one.

im changing my name to my mums maiden name and the name on my birth certificate.
what he needs to do is contact experien and they will send a form out so his credit files can be linked.
