thing the OP was pointing out that a basic calculator probably isn't even worth £2.49 never mind £9.99MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/2000

WHSmith are almost as bad for their sales as DFS.0

Don't know about your local WHS but in mine whenever i'm at the till the operators asks whether i'm interested in buying half price sweets / chocolates - a quick glance will show that even at "half price" it's mostly still more expensive than other shops selling at "their normal" price.
Seems like WHS merely uplift the RRPrice by 100% then offer a 50% discount and there you have it.0 -
Had this at several WHSmiths now around London, gets right on my nerves. most WHSmiths I go in now resemble messy charity shopslosgiganteskid wrote: »Don't know about your local WHS but in mine whenever i'm at the till the operators asks whether i'm interested in buying half price sweets / chocolates - a quick glance will show that even at "half price" it's mostly still more expensive than other shops selling at "their normal" price.

They'll go the same way as Woolworths soon if there not careful.0

Asking if you want half price items, located at the tills, is part of their job. A polite "no thanks" is all thats needed. Mind you, if you're a regular in the shop then the till staff should have got to recognise you by now and know that you're a customer who doesnt want the half price stuff and therefore shouldnt ask you.0

I do think that it's become very confused in there now. They sell DVDs but no longer sell CDs. The shop seems to have been randomly arranged. My husband went in there at the weekend to get the papers and came out with lightbulbs!
(I'm serious) It's a shame because it can't be easy for the staff, some of them have been there years and are really nice, but I even hear some of them complain about the offers they're supposed to tell people about. 0 -

You miss the point !!!
I don't mind in the slightest being asked whether or not I would like some half priced sweets. What I do object to is being asked that question where clearly WHS have hoisted the price to a level where if they were trying to sell at that price no one in their right mind would buy, then try and offer a 50% discount and suggest they are offering a bargain.0
