I hope you can get some help but what have you done with the work clothes that you were wearing 14 weeks ago?

I have exactly the same problem. Due to government rises in VAT, cost of living, petrol etc, wages now pay the bills. THE END.
Clothes are a luxury I forgot about a long time ago. My old work clothes were very old, worn and unfortunately, unlikely to get replaced and certainly not fit for an interview.

Not only that, but live on JSA for long enough and healthy food soon becomes a thing of the past too. Cheap pizza's and lots of chips are more often than not on the menu rather than healthy veg and 3 meals a day. The weight soon piles on due to eating unhealthy, cheap, fatty foods and due to your body storing up the fat because it's not eating as many times a day as it needs to and not being able to afford that gym membership you loved prior to being made redundant. Yes, my work clothes I had 13 weeks ago are now extremely tight and look ridiculous.

Thank god I just found a job and start shortly but perhaps it's kinder not to judge someones reasons for not having their work clothes from before. There's generally a bigger picture if you are willing to look for it.

P.s -I wouldn't have looked into an ADF for clothing, I borrowed my interview clothes off a friend. However, the system at present says that people who have been on JSA for 6 months or more get a housing benefit run on for 4 weeks and also a JSA or Income Support run on for 4 weeks. People who have been out of work for over 12 months now qualify for a back to work payment of £40 a week they can have on top of their wages for 1 YEAR! This gives the impression it is better to stay on the dole for longer for maximum benefits. However, someone who tries hard to find a job can have access to an Advisors Discretionary Fund to help with travel to work costs, and possibly a new set of work clothes but that's not cut and dried. Seems very unfair to us that really wish to work but that's the British Government for you.
