Hi all,
Was just browsing the web and came across this UK tax rebate calc.
http://www.taxfix.co.uk/income-tax-calculator2.html
I noticed I was being taxed at basic rate (20%) for all my earnings on a recent payslip so I am about to send off for a rebate.
I used this calculator to check roughly how much I should be expecting back! Handy eh!
I also urge you all to check your pay slips and tax codes - you never know if you are paying too much!!
Hope some may find this link useful if you haven't already come across it. :T
I will post up once I get my money back to say how accurate it was!

Hi Little Miss
Did you actually use this service to reclaim your tax rebate? You would be better to write to HMRC yourself as this company is charging a commission out of any refund. It would not be difficult to reclaim this yourself with HMRC, all you need are copies of your P60s or P45s for the year (if all your income is via employment).
Are you being charged at 20% for both your jobs? Usually you would have a 'normal' tax code with your main employer (say 647L) and a BR tax code with your second job. The only complication would then be if you earn less that £6475 (or your tax code * 10) on your main job.
Also if the error on relates to the current year if you speak to your employer then they should be able to liase with the tax office and your tax code would be ammended to give you your rebate through your wages - even easier.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
unfortunately - all the tax they have deducted from me is correct!
thanks anyway though :beer:I have learnt from my in-debt days....never again!0 -
Yes, I will be claiming direct to HMRC with my P60's/P45's. I'm not using the service that the web site offers! I want all my rebate to myself
I just thought it was a useful calc tool for a general idea of how much I should be getting!
I will be claiming for 08/09 as my both my jobs were on BR as neither received my P46's I filled in (we have a dodgy post box at the end of our road, that things seem to disappear from and never arrive at their destination - which I won't be using anymore )
I have handed P46's in now to both employers, my 2nd job is now officially on BR(which is correct) and I am just waiting for another coding notice from HMRC to say what my correct tax code will be for my day job. I can then claim again in april for 09/10 for a little bit of tax that I've over paid for the last few months whilst they were sorting out my proper tax code or as you say get it back in my wages.
Hopefully all will be well then!!0 -
Excellent - didn't want you paying for something you could do yourself
.
I agree its a useful quick check for people though.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
