Where can I get good but inexpensive bras?

I need to buy a few new bras as have stopped wearing nursing ones now. My pre pregnancy ones don't fit very well and are old anyway.

I went in M&S for a fitting and was not impressed and the bra she said fitted was worse than the ones I have already.

Looked in Asda and was impressed at the styles for the price but they didn't have a lot in my size and those I tried were not very supportive.

Any sugesstions as to where to try?

I am looking at spending under £10.

  • I like the range in tesco - theres some really pretty ones at the moment :0D

Other than that - try debenhams - theres a sale on at the moment in the one closest to me and I bought a ton of underwear last week, all under £10
  • I know there will be mixed response, but I have no problems with bras from Primark, they last as long as any other underwear and are cheap enough that this doesn't matter..

I have awful trouble getting bras to fit.

Don't know what size you are, but I recommend you go to a specialist bra shop. Because I have taken up the fitter's time ( usually a good 45 minutes trying on most of the stock in various sizes  because most of them just don't fit me right ) and, if I strike lucky, I will buy it from the shop. Then I will search the Net and eBay and buy a couple more in that style.

With respect I think you are going to be hard pushed to get a decent well fitting bra for under a tenner unless you try eBay and the Net.

I won a lovely Rigby and Peller bra for under a tenner. It was a gamble worth taking and it fits beautifully.

There are an awful lot of Panache bras too listed on eBay and I find those, Anita bras - got an ante natal bra from eBay which holds them up well - Fantasie, Freya and R & G fit me the best. Had a couple of bad buys, which are usually the cheapest, but I will list them on eBay to get some money back.

Like the other lady said, Debenhams are also pretty good too.

I just went to Tesco and was really pleased, managed to get 2 lovely ones that fit very well for £8. I tried on a lot of different back/cup combinations until I found a good fit. Got the matching knickers too as they weren't too dear, will see how I get on with these before getting any more though in case they go baggy etc.

I find all bra makes differ in size anyway so I take a few into the changing rooms and it's trial and error - but you can't beat M&S t-shirt bra's - £8 each! Nude, black & white, wired, underwired or padded

Sorry if I sound a bit rude and pervy - promise I'm not being, but when you say they didn't have a lot in your size what do you mean - back sizes/cup sizes being too big, too small?

It's just I know a few stores that do bras but I don't want to reccomend the wrong one and you end up with lots of choice at a good price but not in your size.

Also on a slight tangent, can I just ask all of the other bra-knowledgable people here - why is it in Primarks DD+ section don't do smaller back sizes? It's driving me mad as a 32F when they start at a 36 back so I'm ending up trying on 34E's and praying they made one too big (which oddly sometimes works out!).

BHS usually have a good range, and my nearest one at metrocentre always seem to have a reduced section too.

32DD in the ones I got today, I was surprised Tesco went up to DD in 32 back, but no F sorry.
  • bras from avon are really good - never used to order them before i was a rep as would have been embarrased to send back. but now i have loads and so does my mum. they are fairly cheap and we think almost as good as m&s.

avon are really good on returns so if you order online or from a rep then you can always send stuff back within 90 days (dont know if this applies to knickers, thongs though).
it's nice to be important but more important to be nice!! :kisses3:
