Work Overpayments whats the legal deal?

Ok my sister in law went of work sick, she went through it with her empoloyer and started to get sick pay.

She thought she was getting too much and raised it with her manager her manager said yes we know its all sorted now. This continued for about 3 months with the amount not changing but her manager insisting it was sorted.

She has been in and out of work due to stress and again was signed off for this.

Her Manager came to her and told her she had to pay back over £1500 or work the next 3 weeks without pay.

Surely they can't do this? She can't afford to pay anything back really.

Where does she stand legally?

She has to repay the money. But she should be ableto pay back over a period of time. Has she spoken to HR?
