keeping a baby warm this winter

  • I was under the impression that you shouldn't put baby in a hat while indoors because of the risk of overheating?

  • I'd go with the layers too.
I had all winter babies and we had no heating apart from the living room and the babies were fine using layers.
I always used natural fibres, then the baby does'nt get too sweaty.
The sheepskin idea is a good one too.
Don't worry though plenty of babies were fine before central heating came along.

    Hi,
Dress him/her in layers.....vest (long sleeved if need be), babygro, cardi if needed, sleeping bag (or blankets). Layers are the best way to trap heat.
Also meant to say last time, sleeping bags (grobags and dreampods, also some supermarket own brands) are superb. DS slept in one from about 6 weeks and has had one since, obviously bigger sizes. He has a thin one now (1 tog) for warmer weather and thicker one (about 2.5 tog) for colder weather, which both go to 36 months. Although new grobags/dreampods are about £25-35 they last for a while, can be picked up second hand on ebay/charity shops etc (I got one for 50p in local charity shop and then another one a while later for about the same!), and also non-fancy branded ones (Tesco, Asda etc ) are cheaper.
