Too late to cancle Mortgage application and not be charged fees?

Hi All,
We have had an offer on a house accepted and have put in an application with the bank today (Natwest).
We have been renting for a year a felt the time was right to buy a house, but I am now having major second thoughts as to whether we actually should buy a house. There are some pretty major costs, not to mention having a large debt around your neck for 25 years.
I was enjoying a higher interest rate as this was paying off 2/3's of our rent +council tax last year and with rates on savings accounts creeping up I am actually wondering whether buying a house is an over rated thing.
Does anyone know (as our local branch closes at 4 and I can't ring until the morning) whether it is too late to stop Natwest putting the mortgage application through and charging us the application fee?
If I can't get them to cancel, I feel as though I would probably go through with the purchase. I always thought I would be excited to buy a house so I am surprised that I am verging on depressed about it and I am sure I do not want to go through with it.
Thanks for your help,
Tom.

Me and my girlfriend. That should have been 'we' all the way through my post, except for the last paragraph, as that is the way I am personally feeling. She is exited about buying a house, but she can tell I am not and she would rather we pulled out if i'm not 100% on it.0 -
Why don't you try and get through to Nat West Call Centre as I feel sure the branch will have put the application forward for processing if you saw them today and see if they can just put a hold on it until you sort this out in your head?
Decide on what is giving you the cold feet?
