HI Im a 37 year old who has had a very unsettled way of life until recently, i never used to pay bills, always messed bank accounts up and so on.
As time is going on in life i want to get back on the road to straightness.
My credit rating is ABISMAL, 1 ccj (i think may be another?) loads and loads of missed payments,(44 MISSED, 28 DUE,2 CCJS, LOADS MORE ASWELL) unpaid, the list goes on!!
Im not working (on income support due to illness) I rent privately.
Is there any way whatsoever that i could rebuild my credit file or am i just doomed for ever because of my stupid stupid stupid mistakes from when i was 20 until i was 34??
(talk about things coming back to haunt you)
I wantt to settle down with my girlfriend and eventually try and get a small mortgage (part rent - part buy) but i think Im a complete lost case so maybe i should just go back to 'ducking n diving' and scamming here and there (b=i dont want to though, i want to be honest-but i think im dead in the water)
Please please please help me
ANY ADVICE IS BETTER THAN NO ADVICE

THANKS THANKS THANKS:T

Hi themasta
It will take time to rebuild your credit but the sooner you start on your way to doing it the sooner it will be in a position for your to consider a mortgage.
The general rule is that anything that goes on your credit file stays there for 6years. Have you had recent copies of your credit file? Suggest you get these from experian and equifax so that you can see the damage.
Are you repaying the CCJ that you know about? You do need to find out about the other one as well.
Do not go near any commercial company offering a quick fix to rebuild your credit rating - these are scam companies to be avoided.
In order to get on top of things you need to work out what you owe to who and then write a detailed budget to work out what you can afford to repay. We will offer advice and help on this.
Good luck - don't go back to hiding its time to face the past so you can plan for the future.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
I with Tixy on this one - it can be done - clearly it'll take time and effort but I haven't seen any lost causes yet - there's hope for everyone.
